Our Story
Neo-badger emerged from a simple conviction: that cultural heritage belongs to everyone, and preserving it requires both expertise and care.
We began in 2014 as a small collective of historians and archivists frustrated by how often valuable heritage materials were lost, mishandled, or simply forgotten.
What started as volunteer documentation projects in rural Northumberland evolved into a full-service heritage consultancy. Today, we work with museums, local authorities, private collectors, and community groups across the United Kingdom.
Our approach is rooted in academic rigor, ethical stewardship, and a belief that history should be accessible, not locked away in institutions or obscured by jargon.
What drives us
Heritage is fragile. Documents decay. Oral histories vanish with generations. Buildings crumble. Without intentional preservation, the past slips away.
We are not preservationists who romanticize history. We are pragmatists who understand that cultural memory shapes how societies function, how communities define themselves, and how individuals understand their place in the world.
Every project we undertake is an act of stewardship. We do not claim ownership over the past. We simply ensure it remains accessible for those who come after us.
Our team
Our specialists bring experience from the British Library, National Archives, English Heritage, and various university research departments. We combine traditional archival methods with modern digital preservation techniques.
Each team member holds advanced qualifications in their field. More importantly, they share a commitment to ethical practice, cultural sensitivity, and public accountability.
We collaborate regularly with academic institutions, heritage bodies, and community organizations. Our work has been cited in peer-reviewed publications and presented at conferences across Europe.
Accreditations and standards
We adhere to guidelines established by the UK Heritage Council, the International Council on Archives, and the Museums Association. Our conservation practices meet ISO standards for preservation and environmental control. We maintain professional liability insurance and undergo regular external audits.
